ABSTRACT: The purpose of this research is to investigate the interrelationships among the three behavioural constructs of job involvement, job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Accordingly, a structural model is developed to delineate the interactions among these constructs and explore the mediating effect of job satisfaction on the relationship between job involvement and organizational commitment. A questionnaire-based survey was designed to test the aforementioned model based on a dataset of employees working in twelve out of twenty six banks operating in the capital city of Jordan, Amman.

Job satisfaction or employee satisfaction is a measure of workers' contentedness with their job, whether they like the job or individual aspects or facets of jobs, such as nature of work or supervision. One of the most widely used definitions in organizational research is that of Locke , who defines job satisfaction as "a pleasurable or positive emotional state resulting from the appraisal of one's job or job experiences" p. It is assessed at both the global level whether the individual is satisfied with the job overall , or at the facet level whether the individual is satisfied with different aspects of the job.

The Job Satisfaction Survey, JSS is a 36 item, nine facet scale to assess employee attitudes about the job and aspects of the job. Each facet is assessed with four items, and a total score is computed from all items. Items are written in both directions, so about half must be reverse scored. Although the JSS was originally developed for use in human service organizations, it is applicable to all organizations. The norms provided on this website include a wide range of organization types in both private and public sector.
