Aalborg, February Contents: 1 Introduction Operational Failure Eng. Sustainable development related to conservation of the environment, the welfare and safety of the peo- ple have been subject to increasing concern of the society during the last decades. At the same time optimal allocations of available natural and financial resources are considered very important. The decision process is illustrated in figure 1.

Correlation among variables must be considered to accurately reflect the level of structure reliability. This problem has referential value to engineering practice and has attracted attention from relevant scholars and industries. In this paper, Copula function was used to build the joint probability density function among all variables. The key is to describe the correlation among variables, solve the correlation parameter of Copula function, and select the type of correlation structure among variables. The correlation parameter of Copula function was solved using Pearson linear correlation coefficient and maximum likelihood estimation. Based on the Akaike information criteria AIC and Bayesian information criteria BIC , the optimal Copula function was selected, and the correlation structure among variables was determined. Monte Carlo method, which is based on Nataf inverse transformation, was introduced and used to evaluate the reliability of the correlated variable.

Structural Reliability Theory and Its Applications

Industry has shown an increasing interest in applying structural reliability theory. However, the number of real practical applications is much smaller than one would expect. There are many reasons for this, for example that too few are trained in this field, or the conservatism of engineering companies.

It features expanded coverage of vibration problems, mechanics of drainage, passive earth pressure, and consolidation. Structural Reliability Analysis - an overview. Simply stated, structural reliability is a yardstick of the capability of a structure to operate without failure when put into service.

The Brazilian National Standard for structural masonry considers the compressive strength as the most important factor for design of structures.

The Method of Solving Structural Reliability with Multiparameter Correlation Problem

Modern reliability analyses of large structural system designs require substantial computing times, and need to be repeated frequently in the process of design optimization. In the important case when underlying random variables are not normally distributed, the widely used approximation scheme by Rackwitz and Fiessler further increases the computational requirement by a substantial factor.
